“A Work In Progress”

We’re all a work in progress. We’re not the same person as we were a year ago, five years ago or 10 years ago, and that’s what life is about: change. When we stop changing, we stop living.

I can honestly say that I’m definitely a different person than I was a year ago or twenty years ago. Life teaches us lessons that help us, sometimes “force” us, to change. We live through circumstances that change us. It’s survival and it’s also becoming a person who can survive those moments and thrive because of them.

If only others could see in us what we see in ourselves. If only they could see how far we’ve come in our life and how much we’ve learned about ourselves. If only they could see the effort it took us to get to “now.”

Sometimes I feel as though strangers see the changes more than the people closest to me, but more often than not, that’s the way it goes.

Still, I’ll never stop learning and growing. I’ll never stop changing into the best possible version of myself that I can be. I’ll never stop trying to live my best life.

Here’s to being “a work in progress” and growing into the best version of yourself that you can be today. And who knows? You could be an even better version of yourself in a year, or two, or more.

However long it takes, live each day living, learning and becoming the best version of yourself that you can.

You got this!

And so do I!

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

  1. Hey Sweetheart,

Love this one! I often think of what I refer to as the different lives that I have lived. Started with pre school, then grammar school, high school, college, first job and marriage, next job, next move, etc. Somehow along each journey you reach a level of comfort and develop a routine which, hopefully, you are comfortable and happy with. Then something changes, you adapt, find something that works and keep going into a new and different life! And yes sometimes complete strangers can see right though us and let us know what is going on. That is more because our friends form an opinion of us and when we change they are still looking for the same person and ignoring the changes or figuring that they are just blips on the screen. Kind of goes right back to just making one person happy and that is you!!!!

Hope you are doing well and that you are getting used to the Florida life style. I still hit the beach in the AM but the last few days have hidden the sunrise due to the fires. But hey there were dolphins feeding offshore yesterday and today!

  3. So glad to see that you are posting again. I love your positive attitude and energy!!!

Congrats on a full year in Florida!! And congrats on your sons graduation. A wonderful time!!!

Hm, as to the snakes part, yup they can be scary!!!! We have them up here too you know. Where we walk the dogs in Point there is a boardwalk through the woods and into the river a little bit. You have to look for them but they are usually around in spring and early summer. They hang out under the small boardwalk which is about 2′ above the ground so sometimes you can be within just a couple of feet of them and not even see them. I love seeing them but do have that primal whoooo! that lights up whenever I see them even though they are aggressive. I try to look at it from their perspective, lying on my belly waiting for something small to come along that I can eat and all of a sudden something comparatively about as big as a telephone pole comes walking by. I think I will freeze and hope and hope and hope that he doesn’t see me!!! Who knows. maybe the snake has the same primal fear of me that I have of him!!! Anyway, I am thoroughly convinced that more snakes have seem me than I have seen snakes!!!

As to the alligators, hm, they even the odds a bit so I would try to stay away from them. No alligators on the Jersey Shore though.

Still getting up most mornings and watching the sunrise. Dolphins and a nice sunrise this morning.

Hope you and Rob are doing great and that you enjoy your life!! When is the next book coming out!!!!!

    • Yes, it’s been far too long since I’ve written. I guess I’ve been on “writer’s retreat” for the last few months! I’m forever adjusting to Florida but finding my place, slowly but surely. We’ll have to catch up by phone sometime soon! Love to Karen!

      • Wow, that sure makes me angry!!!! LOL

My thoughts on anger are that I forgive as soon as possible when someone really hurts me. If I don’t forgive as soon and as often as possible, it hurts me, not them. When I allow them to control my life through my negative thoughts, I am letting them control me and that hurts. I thought about that with my break ups and thought that if someone had told my ex how bad a day I was having because of something they did, there comment would likely be “You mean I am hurting someone who I don’t like anyway and who hurt me…..GOOD!!!!”. So I skip right to the forgiveness solution.

Actually I am only hurting myself. So I forgive intentionally and in my own mind only, no need for them to know, my actions will show it! Then I can let it go and get on with my life without thinking about how angry I am!!! Of course, sometimes I have to forgive 3 or 4 or 50 or 60 times, but there is only one person making me feel bad and that is me! So I talk to the guy in the mirror. Then people think I am really crazy!!!! Hey they may be right!!!!!

Incidentally Ronnie isn’t doing all that well, he skipped two Wednesday nights in a row OMG! But he was there this Wednesday.

        Hope you are doing great!

      • HAHA! I know, can’t expect sympathy but I will say it’s a “Florida Winter” as I write this: 50 degrees! It’s rare but we had to turn the heat on! I do miss that first snowfall! Let’s catch up by phone one of these days! Say hi to Karen for me!
