“The Right Person”

Sometimes all it takes is one person to help you find the inspiration and motivation that you’re looking for. And I had just that experience during my crazy week!

Every so often a follower reaches out to me to chat. I met this amazing young woman a few years ago by phone. She’s a young, sweet, and inspiring person and I was extremely grateful that she reached out to me last week. Here I am, the positive writer, the “love and light girl” getting some much needed help out of my own funk from this girl.

We spoke for quite some time and I listened to her adventures, hearing the excitement and love of her life in her voice. She was excited! She was driven and focused! She was and is brave! She took a leap of faith and changed her direction, moving all the way to the desert in Mexico. I could feel her happiness and her excitement.

I told her that I was feeling out of balance living here and about leaving my job. She reminded me that perhaps this was a push for me to finish my new book, that perhaps that will turn out to be my big adventure when it’s published.

And she was so right.

When we hung up the phone I felt so much better, more motivated and definitely inspired by her adventure. Thank you, Ania, for supporting me all these years and for helping me remember what I’m here for.

Sometimes it takes one person to inspire and motivate you.

Sometimes it takes one person to help you see the light.

Sometimes people drop into our life for a reason.

And she was definitely the reason that day.

Wishing you love and light,

“8 Year Breast Cancer Survivor”

I’m grateful for every day that I wake up yet I’m especially grateful for this day. Today I woke up as an 8 year breast cancer survivor and I have to say, it feels wonderful! I am filled with gratitude for my life and the people in it who have supported me throughout my journey and who still support me throughout my adventures.

The kids aren’t around to celebrate this milestone with me but my Noah did something special for me all the way from Hawaii. They ordered the most delicious, homemade bagels from their friend, Maggie, the “Bagel Bandita,” who lives here at the Jersey Shore.

What a beautiful surprise when the “Bagel Bandita” showed up at my work with a dozen bagels!

Thank you, Noah, for being “you” and remembering me on this very important day.

And just like that, I’m an 8 year breast cancer survivor!

Here’s to the beginning of the countdown to next year!

Wishing you love and light,

“Onward To Change”

It’s only Monday and I’m feeling incredibly happy and peaceful. There’s something wonderful about a “staycation.” I believe that the Universe is trying to tell me something and showing me a different side to my life, one that I haven’t lived in over a year and a half.

And I’m remembering it.

I remember how wonderful it felt to be home, to be writing at all hours of the day and night, to chat on the phone, to cook and clean. I remember how wonderful it felt to be home and not tired, to be home with time to talk to my friends and get together for lunch, to be home with my family.

I’m using this time to think about my life. I guess you could say I’m writing a list of my New Year’s Revelations…all that I’ve learned throughout 2021 and all that I don’t want to repeat in 2022.

And I’m grateful that I have this time to think about it all.

I’m sure there will be changes, some difficult and some easy, but I’m making decisions that are for my highest good. Decisions that will enhance my life and make it a life that I want.

Onward to changes. Onward to writing a list of New Year’s Revelations. Onward to doing what it takes to live your best life.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“So Today I Did A Thing…”

So, I did a “thing” today. I signed the contracts with my publisher to do another book! This one is way different than what I’ve written before and definitely a bit out of my comfort zone but I am so excited to be back under contract and ready to get published. Sometimes I need the pressure of a deadline to get myself moving. I believe with all my heart that this is going to be part of my moving forward in my life.

It’s been a wonderful “staycation” so far, one filled with changes and decisions and I’ll say it again, I’m grateful for the time to do so.

Life is precious and as I get older I realize just how precious it is. No day should be wasted, no minute should be wasted. There’s so many things I want to do before my last breath is taken and now is the time to do what it takes to do them.

It feels good to be back to being “me.” I missed her.

As I end this post I say this to all of you:

Forgive those who have hurt you and forgive yourself.

Have no regrets because mistakes are to be learned from and make us a better person.

Love hard and love long.

Laugh as often as you can.

Mean what you say but don’t be mean when you say it.

Your actions will always speak louder than your words. Choose them wisely.

And every day that you’re blessed to have another day to do it better than before, spend it with your loved ones or be aware of the beauty that surrounds you, be grateful.

Love you all!

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“If You’re Reading This…”

If you’re reading this, you woke up this morning to a brand new day.

If you’re reading this you have the internet.

If you’re reading this you have a few minutes of time all to yourself to do so.

And if you’re reading this you had a choice to read it or not.

You woke up. You have a connection. You have some time to yourself. You have a choice as to how you use your time.

You’re here.

You’re alive.

And you’re amazing.

Think about that. All blessings and all reasons to be grateful.

Wishing you love and light,

“Oh, The Places Being A Writer Can Take You!”

Do you know what I’m looking forward to the most in the women’s workshop I’ll be teaching in Italy this summer? It’s sharing my experience as a published author with other writers. I’m looking forward to sharing all that I’ve learned throughout my years of writing and publishing books: “the ups and downs, the ins and outs, and the do’s and don’ts.

Yet being a writer is so much more. A writer takes a dream and makes it come true, and sometimes the dream of being a “writer” turns into so much more. It can take you places that you had never dreamed of  and present you with opportunities that you never knew had existed.

I’ve been writing all of my life but my first real “writing” job was as a journalist for our local racetrack, Wall Stadium Speedway. I had my own column and interviewed drivers, pit crews, safety teams and fans. It was a dream to be at the track that I grew up attending, yet here’s where the “dream I never thought of” happened. I was asked to race a factory stock car in the woman’s “powder puff” race the week before I began chemo for breast cancer. Driving on that track was a place I had never dreamed of being, yet it all came from my writing.

When I published, “Waking Up,” I had written song lyrics for the title and found a local musician to record it. You would think one song was enough, yet before I knew it I had written lyrics to 14 of the stories in the book, recorded them with the musician, and together we produced a CD. It was another place that my dream of writing took me to and it didn’t stop there: I was filmed in a music video for the song “Waking Up.” Yet, the dream kept growing. I’d find myself on the front page of our local newspaper, being interviewed on a well known radio station, doing photo shoots and performing in public as the musician and writer team called “Collaboration of Hope.” The dream continued when I sang back-up in the song I wrote about myself called “The Dreamer.”

But wait, the perks of being a writer continued with my own internet radio talk show called “Living Your Best Life With Anne Dennish.” I’ve always loved radio but this was yet another dream that came about because of my being a writer.

And during the book launch of my newest book, “Each Breath Along The Journey” another dream I hadn’t even imagined happened again: I was asked to conduct a women’s writers workshop in Italy.

And so the dreams that are founded on being a writer continue.

Now you know why the women’s writers workshop this summer is so important to me. I want to be able to share my experiences of being a published author with other writers but even more importantly, I want to share my experiences of one dream turning into another, and another, and another.

Meet me in Italy this August and join my workshop. You will leave with inspiration and motivation to keep writing and to keep your eyes open to all the endless possibilities that being a writer has to offer.

Writers turn into published authors and dreams turn into reality.

Let’s explore all of it in Italy this summer.

It’s a good thing.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“My Strength Is Their Weakness”

“My strength is their weakness, my weakness their strength.”

I wrote that quote many, many years ago and it still rings true today. I learned the hard way that when I was vulnerable to the wrong person they took it as a sign of weakness and used it against me to inflate their ego even more.

Once I realized that being vulnerable with the wrong person would not serve me well, I made a decision to stay strong and save my vulnerability for the right person. When I stood my ground they lost theirs. My strength became their weakness.

Remember that when you’re feeling broken from being vulnerable to someone. It’s not a sign of weakness to be vulnerable, it’s actually a sign of strength. Unfortunately, there are certain people that will take advantage of that and use it against you.

You know what?

They’re not your people.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Thank Goodness For Party Crashers!”

Yesterday was a day to fill a martini glass with tears, and I did. The day began as badly asmartini glass 1 it ended, and it turned into a day filled with nothing but “one thing after another” in between. And do you know what kind of day that becomes? A “pity party.”

Sometimes we’re the ones who are responsible for the “pity party,” and oftentimes, it’s someone else who takes us to a party that we didn’t want to go to in the first place.

I don’t like days like that but I’ve learned that we all need to have them every so often. They teach us a truth about someone or something, they make us look inward at ourselves to see what part we played in the party, and they happen to remind us to be grateful for all the other days that are good.

Sometimes all you need to get you out of the party is a couple of party crashers. They’re party crashersthe ones that will come in, make you laugh, and take you home. I’m thankful for my two youngest who crashed my party yesterday, made me laugh, and took me home.

My “pity party “ of yesterday is over and hopefully there’s not another invitation for one coming to me anytime soon.

And I hope that there aren’t any coming for you.

Just remember that if you do go, be sure to leave the door open for the “party crashers” to come in and take you home.

It’s a good thing.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~
