“The Domino Effect”

News sure travels fast when a person wants to spread it.

It’s similar to the movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” in which each life touches another in a positive way except this type of gossip is in reverse and with a much different outcome. Each story and negative opinion that they share with other people touches another in a hurtful way once it’s been found out.

I call it “The Domino Effect” of gossip. We’re all dominoes strategically positioned in such a way that the person that pushes the first one does so knowing how to take down the rest.

The difference is that we’re not dominoes, we’re human beings that trusted a person who broke that trust by sharing our intimate conversations and their opinions with other people. Most often, we don’t even know that they’re doing it until we hear about it.

Do we tell the people that are the topic of the gossip, knowing that it will hurt their feelings? I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings but then again, isn’t that how we can protect them from gossip?

What do we dominoes do without lowering ourselves to their level?

All I can say is to distance yourself from them and if you haven’t already stopped all communication, you probably should be extremely careful in what you say to them.

Everyone is a loser here, and the biggest loser is the person spreading it all. After all, nothing good comes from idle gossip.

I say that we “dominoes” should leave it alone because I truly believe that what we put out into this world will inevitably come back to us. It’s only a matter of time before the hand pushing the dominoes is seen for who they are.

Don’t be one of the pieces in “The Domino Effect” of gossip.

“What Do You Believe?”

I believe that dreams do come true.

I believe that music and dancing soothe the soul.

I believe that we can change if we want to.

I believe that actions make the words true.

I believe that laughter is really the best medicine.

I believe that loyalty, respect and trust is the key to any relationship.

I believe that intuition never lies and if you feel like something is off, it usually is.

I believe that lies always hurt more than the truth.

I believe that it’s easier to be kind than it is to be mean.

I believe that most problems can be solved through open communication, respect and truth.

I believe that an attitude of gratitude can change your life.

I believe that it’s healthy to have a lazy afternoon every once in a while.

And I believe that life puts all of us exactly where we need to be and life has put me in Florida, at least for now!

Just my thoughts for today…

What do YOU believe?

Wishing you love and light,

“I Wanna Go Back and Do It All Over”

Do you ever hear a song on the radio that takes you back in time? One that transports you to a time when you were younger and life seemed much simpler?

It’s that song that brings you back to a precious memory, of a time when you remember being so carefree and happy.

For me it’s a song sung by Eddie Money that makes me think that “I wanna go back and do it all over, but I can’t back, I know.”

But I can’t go back. None of us can.

What we can do is hold onto those memories from a lifetime ago.

Keep them safely tucked inside of your heart.

And don’t lose sight of “now.”

When life isn’t going the way we had planned, or we’re feeling sad or depressed, or as though we’ll never be happy again, we often go back to those times.

We all do.

But don’t go back to those times and wish that you were there again.

Visit those times to remind you that you have been happy and that life was all that you wanted it to be at that time.

And let those times remind you that you can have that in the “now.” You didn’t leave happiness in your past. It was simply a different time in your life that taught you what “happiness” feels like.

Take those feelings of old memories with you into your “now.”

And let your “now” guide you into your “future.”

Life is a series of memories, good and bad, a series of life lessons, easy and hard, and a series of ups and downs. Experience is a great teacher and memories are gifts that we are given along the way.

Go back and visit if only to remind you that your “now” is just as precious as your “then.”

And remember to be grateful for it all.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Everybody Hurts…Sometimes”

December 11, 2020

“When your day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,

And you’re sure you’ve had enough of this life, hang on.

Don’t let yourself go, cause everybody cries

Everybody hurts…sometimes.” REM

We all hurt sometimes. We all need to cry sometimes. We all feel like giving up sometimes.

Even me.

And that’s when you have to lean on someone in your life that is there for you, that you feel safe with, and that you can let your guard down with.

I’m going to be honest here. I’m there for anyone that needs me, anytime of day or night and for as long as they need me to listen.

Yet there are times, and thankfully not that many, that I need someone to be there for me to listen and let me feel safe to let the tears flow.

I don’t have a perfect life yet it’s perfect for me. I’ll take any difficult situation I’ve encountered in my life and make it the best that I can, yet there are times that I need someone to be there for me.

Let me share with you what I’ve learned and give you something to think about. You know that person that’s always there for you? The one you think has their life put together in a perfect package? The one that is stronger than anyone you’ve ever known?

They’re human and sometimes they hurt just like you do.

Don’t take them for granted because of their strength and ability to help you in your difficult situations. Be there for them. Love them through just as they have for you. Listen to them without judgement as they have for you. And remember even the strongest of people have a moment in which they need someone.

We’re all in this together. Let’s be there for each other.

Don’t let the strength and positive attitude of someone you know make you think that they don’t need someone to lean on every once in a while.

Because they do.

We all need each other.

Especially now.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“The Gratitude List”

Everyday is a day to be grateful and today I wanted to share my gratitude list with you.

  • I’m grateful that I woke up to another day to live my best life.sunday
  • I’m grateful for the beautiful early morning sky in Virginia.
  • I’m grateful that with each day my sister is healing more and more from her surgery.
  • I’m grateful for my first cup of coffee with a different view.
  • I’m grateful that the ice is gone and the temperature is much warmer.
  • I’m grateful that my sister and I hung out on the couches last night watching movies.
  • I’m grateful for doors that have opened up for me.
  • I’m grateful for my loved ones back home and for all of you who support me.

It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing. What matters is that there is always something to be grateful for. Life is what you make it, so make it amazing and be grateful for each day you have.

What are you grateful for today? Let me know!

And be grateful for “each breath along the journey.”

It’s a good thing.

Wishing you love and light,

“Embrace Your Inner Dreamer”

“There is a dreamer who lives in a world,
Of endless possibilities…never any boundaries.”

by Anne Dennish

Just a little something I wrote two years ago about my life as a dreamer, yet it’s a song for everyone who has a dream…and I hope that’s all of you. We all have a “dreamer” inside of us just waiting to break out.

I often write about setting boundaries in your life that are best for you, yet where dreams are concerned, there should be NO boundaries! Dream as big as you can and take that leap of faith to catch them!

It’s a good thing!

Enjoy my song called “The Dreamer.”

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“What Now With New Beginnings”

“Journey is over, the battle is won. A new chapter starting, a new day begun,

So what do I do know? Where do I start?

Do I take the road known or less traveled and follow my heart?

Life is always changing, it’s time to turn the page,

The story continues and it’s mine to create.

So what do I do now? Where do I go?

Do I let my mind lead me backwards in time or move ahead slow?”

What now with new beginnings? What now with the old life behind? What now that I’m starting over, no clue, no reason, no rhyme.

Time to change my thinking,

Time to lose the fear,

The Universe is watching, that’s what brought me here.

It’s all an adventure, my life is a song.

I know where I’ve been, not where I’m going but I’m dancing along.”

Aside from writing books, I also write song lyrics and this is one that I wrote about my journey with breast cancer. Yet it’s not only about that; it’s about endings and the beautiful new beginnings that follow. It’s about leaving the past behind and moving forward. It’s about creating the life you want. It’s about changing your perspective.  It’s about losing the fear and taking a leap of faith.

And it’s about embracing the journey of a beautiful new beginning.

It’s all an adventure so dance along the journey.

It’s a good thing!

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Always Stay Humble and Kind”

I wanted to share this song by Tim McGraw with you. It’s called “Humble and Kind” and truly has an inspiring message for everyone. Please take a moment to listen to it and read through the lyrics below. There’s a strong message of how the world can change and lives can be happier if we simply remember our roots and live by being”humble and kind.” I hope you enjoy it!

“Humble and Kind”

“You know there’s a light that glows by the front door
Don’t forget the keys under the mat
When childhood stars shine, always stay humble and kind
Go to church cause your momma says to
Visit grandpa every chance that you can
It won’t be wasted time
Always stay humble and kind

Hold the door, say please, say thank you
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie
I know you got mountains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind
When the dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kind

Don’t expect a free ride from no one
Don’t hold a grudge or a chip and here’s why
Bitterness keeps you from flying
Always stay humble and kind
Know the difference with sleeping with someone
And sleeping with someone you love
I love you ain’t no pick up line so
Always stay humble and kind

Hold the door say please say thank you
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie
I know you got mountains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind
When the dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kind

When it’s hot, eat a root beer popsicle
Shut off the ac and roll the windows down
Let that summer sun shine
Always stay humble and kind
Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you
When you get where you’re goin’
Don’t forget turn back around
And help the next one in line
Always stay humble and kind.”

“A Tragedy in Manchester, England”

The internet is filled with a mix of emotions over last nights’ tragedy in England, from anger and hatred to sadness. The world can feel so safe until something rocks our world and fills us with fear.

It seems that when tragedy strikes there are those that will say to “hug your children more, say I love you to those you love and be grateful for each day you are gifted,” yet I say we should be that way everyday. It shouldn’t take a tragedy to open our eyes to the life we are blessed to have and to be grateful for our loved ones.

So today let us all join together in compassion and kindess, love and understanding for the world. Let’s pray for England, for an end to violence in the world, and more importantly, let us pray for each other.

Wishing you love and light

and peace…
