“Tips To Stay Calm During Social Distancing”

We’re already into the second week of “social distancing” and there are some people experiencing anxiety and stress from this virus. I find myself feeling anxious at times, especially since I’ve been quarantined for two weeks now, but I do have some tips that can help you to stay calm.

Right now we’re living in the “new normal” until this virus is under control and wiped out. Until then, do what you can to take care of yourself.

Take a listen to my video…I hope it helps.

Stay calm. Stay safe. Stay home.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends”

As we all settle in for the next 15 days to help to stop the spread of COVID-19, it’s important that we stick together and are there for one another in whatever way that we can.

I will continue to share my posts with you and will be doing a LIVE video each day to check in with you.

I am also letting you know that beginning tomorrow, March 18th, I will be here and available for anyone who needs to talk to help them through this time. I will be available by phone at 732-800-1012 between the hours of 10 am until 4 pm EST.  You can PM me if there is a specific time of day that you want me to set aside for you or just give a call when the spirit moves you! If you need an evening time let me know. I know I’M not going anywhere! LOL!

Tensions and anxiety can run high during times like that and it’s important that we remain as calm as we can. If you’re having one of those moments or just feel like “checking in” with me, give a call!

We’re all going to get through this and now, more than ever, we need to believe that “we’ll get by with a little help from our friends!”

Because we will.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“High Risk”

That’s what the cancer institute told me yesterday when they called to reschedule my six month check-up for this morning. They didn’t want anyone coming there unless it was for treatment. Yes, I’m six years clear of cancer but I also take a medication once a day which keeps it gone, and because chemo stays in your body for years and because of the medication I take, I’m high risk.

I asked them what I should do. They said to stay out of crowds and not to be anywhere with more than 15 people there. They said to wear a mask and to follow the protocol of hand washing and be careful to stay clear of crowds and sick people.

So, what does that mean to me? Am I scared?

No.

I’m not scared.

Everyone has a different opinion on this virus and I respect them all, but my feeling is that the governments across the world are simply trying to prevent the virus from spreading to more people than those who already have it.

I don’t think we’ll all be living a different lifestyle forever, just for now. The focus is on COVID-19 but the same protocol goes for any virus or flu. Maybe it’s blown out of proportion, maybe it’s not, but it is what it is. All the lock downs and shutdowns of public events are for a reason: to prevent the virus from spreading.

I’m not scared, but am concerned. I’ll be taking my precautions as the oncologist has told me and will look at this as positively as I can. It’s a time to be home with my family, a time to write and declutter my home, and a time to reflect on the many things we take for granted that can now be appreciated.

I know that “this too shall pass” and until it does I’m going to make the best of it.

And I hope you will, too.

Be well, stay healthy, and wash your hands every chance you get!

And let’s keep each other in our thoughts and prayers.

It’s a good thing.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Social Distancing On My Birthday”

“And on the first day of the next year of my life…”

I’m practicing “safe social distancing” and helping to “flatten the curve.” Aside from the precautions that we’re all being told to take, I have my boys doing the same for me. They’re telling me what I should and shouldn’t be doing and as a mom it melts my heart to know how much they care about me.

They’re still looking out for me even on my birthday! My two youngest were here with my birthday cake and as you can see by the picture, they were sure to practice social distancing! Of course I laughed because I think laughter is the best medicine in any situation. It lightens the mood and takes your mind off of things.

And we sure laughed!

So here I am on the “first day of the next year of my life” laughing with my family, enjoying my “vegan” chocolate birthday cake, and finding peace and serenity by sitting in my backyard with the sun shining on my face.

Maybe this “social distancing” thing isn’t such a bad thing after all.

Stay well. Stay healthy. Stay calm.

And remember to laugh.

It’s a good thing.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“15 Days”

Well, it’s real now! Yesterday our country was asked to stay home for 15 days in the attempt to stop the spreading of COVID-19. Restaurants, movie theaters, gyms and more are all closed to the public. It’s a situation that needs to be taken seriously by all of us.

I’m always saying that “it’s time to make a difference and we can make that difference together.”

Now, more than ever, it’s true. It’s true as a country and as the world. All we need to do at this moment is to stay home and practice “social distancing” for the next 15 days. When we all join in together and do this, we’re doing our part in helping to prevent the virus from spreading further.

I decided to voluntarily quarantine myself last week and am certainly doing my part in “flattening the curve.” I hope that all of you will do the same. Let’s all be a part of the solution, not the problem.

Make the best of the next 15 days. Stay home, read a book, watch a movie, clean your closets, or just take this time to relax. Remember, you’re not only protecting yourself, but you’re protecting hospital workers, EMT’s, nurses, doctors, police, fire and all responders that serve and protect your community. You’re also protecting your family, friends, and neighbors.

Let’s respect each other and follow the guidelines in place for “safe social distancing.”

Let’s “flatten the curve” together.

It’s a good thing.

Stay calm. Stay healthy. Stay home.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Guilt-Free Time”

Here’s something for you to think about if you’re having a difficult time with social distancing for the next 15 days. So many people I speak to are focused on what they CAN’T do during this time instead of what they CAN do. There’s so many things that you can be doing yet here’s the problem.

Many of us feel guilty because we’re thinking of all things we SHOULD be doing instead of turning that around to see all the things we COULD be doing. In other words, take these 15 days as “Guilt- Free Time!” Yes, lives are certainly turned a bit upside down right now but this too shall pass and until it does, find all the positive in it that you can.

Stop feeling guilty about things that you SHOULD be doing. You can do them once we’ve “flattened the curve.” Start thinking about the things you COULD be doing!  This is one way to alleviate any stress or anxiety that you’re feeling during this time. Change your mindset. Change your perspective. Change your thinking.

It’s  “guilt-free time” for at least the next 15 days. Do the things you SHOULD be doing if you can, but now is the perfect time to make a list of all the things you COULD be doing and start doing them!

It’s a good thing.

Stay calm. Stay healthy. Stay home.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Social Distancing”

“Social distancing.”

This is the latest term that has surfaced from this nasty COVID-19 and I’ve attached a very good article about it below. Please take a moment to read it. It has some very important information for all of us.

I’m still not in a “panic mode” but here in the United States and in my state of New Jersey, the virus is running rampant. Fear never solves anything and certainly doesn’t help anyone to stay safe and healthy. My message to all of you is to stay calm, don’t panic, and stay as socially distant from other people, places and events as you can. This won’t cure the virus but is certainly one of the most effective ways of preventing it from spreading.

“Quarantined” can be as scary a word as “COVID-19” yet I’m asking you to slow down, take a breath, and listen to what the officials are telling you to do. It’s a time to simply stay home if at all possible. Schools are being shut down so the kids will be home for a few weeks, if not months. That means KEEP THEM HOME! The same goes for adults. Stay home if you can, keep your distance from crowds, public events, and any other activities which, at this time, are important to stay away from.

The sooner we contain this virus and prevent it from spreading, the sooner life will go back to the way it used to be. Until then, make the best of your time at home. Read a book, rent a movie, take a walk outside or just sit in your backyard in the sun. Catch up with your household chores and your “to-do” list. Spend time with your family that lives with you. After all, you still have your cell phones and for most of us, the internet, to keep in touch with others.

Make this crazy, and hopefully “brief” time, an adventure. “This too shall pass” and until it does, make the best of it and don’t allow fear and anxiety to make things worse for yourself.

Stay calm. Stay informed. Stay home.

Practice “social distancing.”

It’s a good thing.

I’m keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~
