“If You’re Reading This…”

If you’re reading this, you woke up this morning to a brand new day.

If you’re reading this you have the internet.

If you’re reading this you have a few minutes of time all to yourself to do so.

And if you’re reading this you had a choice to read it or not.

You woke up. You have a connection. You have some time to yourself. You have a choice as to how you use your time.

You’re here.

You’re alive.

And you’re amazing.

Think about that. All blessings and all reasons to be grateful.

Wishing you love and light,

“Let It Be”

I’ve always found comfort in this song. There are moments in life that cause us stress or worry, yet feeling those emotions doesn’t help the situation. It never does. It takes a leap of faith in knowing that everything will work itself out in time, just the way that it’s supposed to.

Have a beautiful day.

Have faith.

And “let it be.”

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“What If Christmas, Perhaps, Means A Little Bit More?”

The holidays are different this year with no large gatherings of family and friends, but that doesn’t mean the “different” can’t be good. It may not be the same but we certainly have a choice to make it special.

After all, doesn’t Christmas mean a little bit more?

Life is what you make it and your holidays are what you make it as well. You may not be cooking a large traditional dinner or having to set a table for 12, yet you can choose to make it special. Cook a smaller “non-traditional” dinner and eat it off your best china. Settle in on the couch for  a day of binge watching all your favorite Christmas shows. Pour a cup of hot chocolate and FaceTime or Zoom your loved ones that can’t be with you.

It’s different but let’s call it a “different kind of special!” It’s a different kind of holiday and one I’m sure we’ll have some stories to share next year when we’re cooking the big, traditional dinner and setting a table for 12 or more.

“Maybe Christmas,” the Grinch thought, “doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?” Dr. Seuss

Surely if the Grinch can change his perspective so can you!

It may be different this year, but you can still make it special.

You got this.

And you’re doing just fine!

Wishing you love and light,

“You Got This”

Yesterday I was blessed to see both the sunrise and sunset. Both were absolutely breathtaking.

And it made me think to myself, “This truly is a wonderful life.”

Each day I wake up I say “thank you” because I have been gifted another day, another chance to live it better than the day before, and another opportunity to stop and smell the roses.

And I realized this: “I got this.”

And so do you.

You’re amazing and I’m grateful for all of you.

Live each day to its’ fullest and know that “you got this!”

And you’re doing just fine.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Let’s Do December Together”

I know that December can be a difficult month for some, whether it’s personal reasons or simply the pandemic itself coupled with the holidays that just aren’t as they have been, so I’ve decided to try and help as best I can!

Each day throughout December I will be posting an uplifting, positive quote or story. I’m hoping to help anyone who needs to feel better or less alone during these times.

And I’m doing it for all of you who follow me. Your support means the world to me and when I write, I write for all of you!

You’re not alone and you’re not the only one feeling the way that you do.

I’m here for you in whatever way that I can help and I know there are other people who are here for you as well.

After all, “we’re all in this together even though we have to do it apart.”

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“Wish The Pandemic Away, Not Your Precious Time”

I hear so many people say that they can’t wait until this year is over. I get it, it’s been a crazy year with this virus but why wish your precious time away? Why wish a year away that you were gifted to live each day through?

Why not just wish the pandemic away? After all, that’s been the problem, hasn’t it?

I always say that life is a mindset and this is more true than ever. Stop wishing the year away because those are days you weren’t promised but days you were blessed to have. Don’t take any of them for granted.

Wish the pandemic away and do what you can to prevent the spread of it.

Life is short enough as it is so please don’t let this pandemic make you lose sight of how precious each day of your life is. Don’t let the pandemic make you forget to live each day to its fullest.

And don’t let the pandemic make you forget that each day with the ones you love, whether together or apart, is a gift.

Go ahead and wish the pandemic away.

But please don’t wish your precious time away because of it.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“These Three Things”

I think life is better when you have a smile on your face and gratitude in your heart. Life can hand us some difficult situations to have to get through and it can also hand us some of the most beautiful and amazing experiences. I’ve gone through my share of difficult times and if there’s a few things I’ve learned, it’s this: you need to smile through it, find a sense of humor during it, and have an attitude of gratitude through, during and after it.

A smile has an impact, a sense of humor lifts the spirit, and an attitude of gratitude is powerful.

The world is a bit crazy right now yet despite that we can choose to wake up every morning with gratitude and spend our days counting our blessings.

Don’t allow all the craziness in the world right now make you lose sight of this beautiful life that you have. There is nothing worth anything that can take that away, unless you allow it to. Please don’t do that.

Life is a gift and each day you wake up is a reason to smile and be grateful. And no matter what the day brings, if you can smile through it, laugh during it and be grateful for it all then you’ve found the key to living your best life.

And isn’t that what we all want?

I’m grateful for many things in my life and I’m grateful for all of you who love and support my page and take the time out of your busy lives to share your thoughts with me. You all have made a positive impact on my life.

Thank you. You are all truly amazing human beings.

Happy Almost Thanksgiving!

Wishing you love and light,

“A Different Thanksgiving”

Last year at this time I was getting ready to cook yet another Thanksgiving dinner, thinking of which chairs would be empty that year.

And again this year, I miss my children that are scattered around the country who aren’t able to fly home for dinner because of their jobs or college classes, except this year they can’t because of a virus, of loss of jobs, or crazy college class schedules. I’m missing them yet again for the holiday, but realizing that even if they could come home right now, they can’t.

My parents have come to my house for every holiday dinner. This year my mom was recently in the hospital and while she can still drive a few minutes up the street with my dad to have dinner, they can’t. She can’t put herself at risk of getting the virus.

It seems that we’re all spending a lot of our time complaining about this virus and how it’s affecting our holidays, but why? It’s such a negative mindset. I’m missing my family as much as you’re missing yours and I don’t want to put anyone at risk.

Enough of what I don’t want to do.

I’m going to focus my energy on what I can and will do.

I will be missing my children being home, but I can video chat with them.

I will be missing the tradition of going around the table as each of us told our most embarrassing moments of the year, but we can share those stories by phone.

I will be cooking a turkey and all the trimmings, just as I do each year. My parents can’t be at the table with me, but I’m going to bring the table to them by delivering them a Thanksgiving dinner.

The tradition has changed a bit, but all that I’m grateful for hasn’t. It’s still Thanksgiving to me no matter what. The memories of past holiday dinners will always be in your heart and new memories of a “2020 crazy corona Thanksgiving” will be made. Life is a mindset and you have a choice to make the best of each and every situation you find yourselves in.

Find yourselves in gratitude. Find yourselves covered in blessings. Find yourselves together even though you’re apart this Thanksgiving.

Happy Almost Thanksgiving.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“The Trouble Is, You Think You Have Time”

“The trouble is, you think you have time.” Buddha

The truth is, you don’t know how much time you have.

The time you spend being angry with someone is a waste of precious time, which none of us are promised. The time you spend not speaking to someone is a loss of time that you will never get back in this lifetime. The time you spend paying someone back for upsetting you is holding you back from moving forward with them.

People talk about missing loved ones that have passed, that they wish they could talk to them one more time. I understand that but what I don’t understand is why they wouldn’t feel that way about someone who is still here and in their life? I have lost loved ones throughout my life but their passing has taught me to embrace the loved ones who are still here. I don’t want to miss any time I have to spend with them or talk to them.

Don’t waste the time you’re given on this Earth being angry or ignoring someone you love. You’ll never get that time back and you never know if that’s the last time you’ll talk to them. It’s like that old saying, “Never go to bed angry.” And it’s true.

I don’t want the last thing I say to someone I care about to be negative, hurtful, or spiteful. I don’t want to treat someone badly because I’m upset. I don’t want to waste one minute of my life holding onto negative things and missing the good things.

Don’t waste this precious time you are gifted. Be grateful for each day that you wake up and use your time wisely, not wastefully. Let someone know that you love them. Tell someone that you’re sorry. Communicate your differences together with love and respect. Use your time to do good things that can make a difference in the life of another. Don’t waste it on negative things that will only hurt you or someone else in the end. One day you’ll wish you had that time back to do things differently but once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

What difference do you want to make in this world with the time you’re given? One that people will remember with a smile or one that they’ll remember with sadness?

The choice is always yours.

The time you’re given is a gift. Don’t waste it.

And that’s just my thoughts today.

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~

“My Life At The Beach House”

It’s been a hectic few days of packing up one house, unpacking into another and working full-time, but it’s getting done. I’m beginning to settle into the “beach house” and can already feel the stress and anxiety fading away. I’m finding my balance and am getting back to my writing. Currently there is no internet or television at the house and I have to say, I don’t miss it. I can hear my thoughts, the sounds of the neighborhood and of course, I can hear the ocean! It’s beautiful. It’s quiet, peaceful and serene and it’s exactly what I was looking for.

I remember telling my son, Noah, the type of house I wanted to move into. I said that I knew it was a long shot and a dream, but I was going to think positive and hope that I could find something that would come close. When I first saw this house I thought “That’s it. That’s the house I’ve been dreaming of.” Noah and I went to see it and when we got in the car afterwards he said to me, “You couldn’t have manifested that any better if you had tried!” And he was right because it’s everything I wanted and more.

Life at the beach house is wonderful. I’ve only been there for 3 sleeps but I’m loving it. Last night was a cold and windy night so I opened all the windows to let the ocean air blow through. It was perfect sleeping weather especially when you can hear the sounds of the ocean.

There’s still some work to be done at the old house but we’re getting there. We’re hoping today is the last day of it. At first it was sad for me to see just how much of our belongings, of our lives, that we had thrown out at the curb, but now I see it as letting go and moving forward. It was definitely time for that chapter to close and this new one to begin for all of us.

Life at the beach house is everything I had hoped for and needed in my life right now. It’s my place of peace, serenity and healing and I’m looking forward to this adventure…And I’m looking forward to enjoying “each breath along this journey.”

(Here’s the view from my backdoor.)

Wishing you love and light,

~Anne Dennish~
